At Mod Shoes and 66 Clothing, we’re lucky to have some of the most loyal and style-savvy customers. When a photo of Steve McQueen wearing a similar top surfaced, several people reached out saying, “That’s a great look! Any chance you could recreate it?” Naturally, we loved the idea — and this tee is our take on that classic style.
Due to Trademark and Copyright Modshoes & 66 are not allowed to host on the website an image/s of Steve in the top, but you can click here to see one on another website, it will open as a new window
This top is to the highest standards using soft cotton. If you own one of our recent Day Tripper or Help tops, you already know how nice our T-shirt material feels.
The styling of this top is incredibly versatile. It pairs perfectly with jeans, whether classic blue, white, or any other colour, as well as the traditional desert boots. There are countless ways to wear it!
Sizing
I am XL in 66 Clothing Jackpot Shirts, Polos & Jackets, as well as Gabicci, and the XL is the same in these. The T-shirt is tighter than a Gabicci, but not overly so. So stick with size.

Why what happened ?

48 inch chest isn’t a 3XL. At most it’s a 2 XL 48 -50 . Maybe the should take some off the length and add it to the chest. 3XL should be 52 -54. Modshoes, please take note?

Its likely if we do another batch of these, that the size run will alter , the length is standard t-shirt though, i thinks its the stripes that make it fell longer !

Well I’ve been musing over the comments and I’ve made a decision.
I’m gonna cut the sleeves off and make it really cool.
The sleeves are a style which suggest a packet of ciggys rolled up in them.

I love this t shirt but agree with most of the other reviews. It is too long to wear outside your trousers/jeans and the sleeves are too loose. Having said that, I wore it tucked in and thought it looked alright. I don’t have massive arms but they’re not skinny either. I will probably get them tweaked a bit. That’s the sleeves, not my arms?

I always read the reviews on Modshoes before purchase and in this case I’m glad I did.
I was very taken with the look of this Tshirt and was looking at buying but some of the reviews are a bit hit ‘n’ miss.
Some say it’s a bit long in the body which put me off immediately as I don’t really want to tuck it into my trousers, losing the silhouette straight away.
Others say the sleeves are a bit baggy!
I feel the look should be as close as possible as the ones shown with Steve wearing the original.
I appreciate it can be tailored but, why would I spend money on a Tshirt only to spend even more to have it fit me correctly?
It’s a different story if an item is vintage and needs tweaking to get a perfect fit, but not a new item.
So, for this time at least, Modshoes, I’m ducking out on a purchase.
I’ve bought numerous items over the years and have no complaints otherwise. All have been superb in quality and fit ?

Hi there,
Thanks for the honest feedback — it’s always appreciated.
Just to clarify, the length and sleeve fit of the T-shirt are both based on industry-standard measurements. That said, we understand that fit can feel different depending on individual body shape and style preference.
Because it’s a T-shirt (rather than a knit or top designed to be worn out over trousers), it’s made with a bit of extra length so it sits properly when tucked in — especially when sitting down, to avoid it riding up at the back. I’ve worn mine plenty of times and personally feel it balances well, though I get that for some, an inch shorter might feel better.
It’s always a tough call getting these details right for everyone, but we really do take all this on board. Thanks again for the support and for sharing your thoughts — it genuinely helps.
All the best,
Andy

Great quality but as others have said a little on the long side and arms are a loose fit , so had mine altered by the mrs .

Nice thick t-shirt, but not perfect. As per another review, it’s a little on the long side, great if you’re tucking it in, but not so great untucked.
The arms are a little on the baggy side too, unlike the one Mr McQueen is wearing in the photo.

How does it fit in the body, is yours fitted or loose ?

I’ve paid a lot of money for worse t shirts than this – absolutely spot on fits great excellent value for money- do some more colours in it please!

Lovely material, fit and look. Could do with the drop being a few inches less, though. Will get it tailored.

I think this my favorite of all the 66 t-shirts. Like all the others it’s a great, quality shirt with great construction but being black and white this one goes with everything!

Saw this on my birthday and just had to have. I wasn’t disappointed. As always a great fit and the positive comments soon flowed. Mod shoes continue to thrive, unlike my bank balance, but I shall return though!
