The Black Loake Brighton is one of the most classic Tassel Loafers still being made. They are still made in England. Loake offer a shoe repair service as well, I have been told the person repairing is normally the person that makes them.
There are various famous wearers of the Black Loafer. A pair was spotted on Suggs from Madness during the Queens Celebrations this year. He is also wore them for the London Olympics closing Ceremony.
I know several people that have owned these shoes for many years! and have also spoken to MODS from the 60’s that had these Loafers.
The loafer in black looks good with Jeans but better to suited to Trousers or a Suit. So whether you are out for the evening dressed up or just down the pub these shoes are really good.
In addition the leather sole make this a great dancing shoe. Just make sure you give them a clean after a Northern Soul Allnighter and these shoes will last years.

I collected my Loafers from the sorting office today. They are superb. The quality shines through, there are no rough edges, the piece of leather that goes over the top of the shoe (where the tassels are attached) is folded over at the edges so you get a lovely smooth edge. I tried them on and they fit really well. As with all my Loakes, the sizing is exact which I don’t always find with other makes. This is a quality shoe, as you would expect from Loake, well worth the money. And you get a free shoe cleaning kit! Nice one.
