In the Beatles’ second film, shot in colour, the band is seen frolicking in the Bahamas towards the climax. In one scene, they are cycling, eluding the villains. John Lennon is spotted wearing a fab top, which inspired the design we present here.
Further research into the Beatles’ attire revealed Ringo Starr donning what appears to be the same top during their August 1965 tour of America.
The fabric is 100% cotton, which is very comfortable to wear. The top is designed to be slightly longer at the back than the front, featuring an elegant ‘Upward V Split’ at the hem.
PLEASE NOTE:
This is the 3rd version of the shirt, now with cuffs matching the collar, true to the film’s design. This version is closer to Johns in the film, and we have spent some time getting the colour and material really nice

This T-shirt is more fitted than a Gabicci, but comfortably so. Therefore, sticking with your regular size is recommended.

I’ve got one complaint about this top. I bought it when it was last released and it was a really dark navy which I loved, but I grew out of it, so just purchased a new size from the newer release, and it’s a lighter shade of blue. I much preferred the darker navy. Why is this? I love the top, just not the colour.
Andrew Lindsay (store manager) –
Hi
The navy was never the colour we wanted, we wanted more like Johns, which is a french blue , i think, and in keeping with his.
But a bit of a mix up , we got navy
Sorry

Just received my “Help” long sleeved shirt. Before i even tried it on i could tell it was a quality made item. It fits very well for a big guy i am a 48 inch chest so i got the 3XL. It is usually the length in the body and arm which is a problem however not on this occasion. From shoulder seam to wrists i am 27 inches and the arms are perfect. I am 6ft4 and the body is actually a touch longer than necessary, all of this accurate sizing has contributed to a really nice fit on a big lad. The quality of the cotton and detailing lets me know that this won’t be a throw away item any time soon, i will have this for a good few years. The colour is not strictly navy blue, its more of a prussian/french blue but i am just picking hairs now. An excellent buy….love it, going to the pub in it right now…

Johns isn’t a turtleneck that would be much higher! Sorry it wasn’t to your taste, the collar is pretty high and very close to johns, well the one I wear is. And that’s what we was aiming for. Would add that how it goes up the neck does depend on your shape etc.
John –
Do u know when u will have more mediums available plse thanks

The rest of the shipment is on its way. Hopefully this side of Christmas :-)

One of my favourite tops from Mod Shoes I had to buy a second one before they go forever.

What can I say that has not already been said? Love the fit and feel of this quality garment. Only word of caution – I washed on a hot wash in error and it shrank a little. So annoying but ordered a second one as I like it so much. To be washed cautiously!

I love the top. Great fit. Great look. And comfortable too. Ever since I watched “Help!” for the first time at age 13, I’ve searched for this shirt. I consider it to be the Holy Grail of Beatle gear. At last, it is found! Thank you Mod Shoes/66Clothing!
My only recommendation – in the future, if you ever consider making further adjustments to the garment, I would only suggest making the collar more form fitting, like John Lennon’s (see attached), more like a turtleneck and less like a mock turtleneck. I’d be the first person in line to buy another one if you did.

I bought this for my friend. He loved it, it was a perfect fit and true to the advertisement. I would highly recommend purchasing from this website. Great range of clothing and wonderful styles

Mod Shoes smash it again with this amazing top. I’m an XL with a bit of a beer belly and this fits like it was custom made. Beautifully soft cotton. You can feel it’s quality made too. I got loads of compliments when I wore it in the office recently. Clothes like this are why you should always buy from independent shops.

Another gorgeous retro top from 66 clothing, looks especially nice with blue jeans, but honestly looks nice with any trousers.

Fantastic quality top absolutely love it, looks great on and the fit is perfect! Always loved this top since I first watched HELP!

I don’t normally buy many clothes as I’ve mostly made them myself down the years (including copies of John’s top!) and I’m also super-picky, but this is a perfect fit and looks even better when you try it on (the neck stands up slightly as it should) -great product complete with vintage style lable!

Everything about the “Help!” shirt is, as always with Mod Shoes, tops in quality and looks! I am especially pleased that the sleeve length is perfect (normally, sleeves on me are just a little too long for my liking, whether they be shirts or blazers, and have to be shortened) as well as the fit (I take Large and though it is slim-fitted, it fits perfectly well). The matching embroidered sleeve ends is a very nice touch as is the dark(er) navy, which I personally prefer. I cannot recommend this shirt enough-get it and you will not be disappointed. And be prepared for the compliments that’ll come your way!

What a great top, nice material and the cuffs are really spot on , this is the top I wanted since the first time I saw Help, it has taken decades so thanks Mod shoes.

Another perfect fit from 66 clothing. I’m a small and it fits perfect. The material feels nice and soft and I like the V taper at the bottom on the sides, with a slightly longer back than front. Very unique. The details on the neck and sleeves are very well done too. This is version 2 with the details around the cuffs as well as the neck as per the original John Lennon wore. Very happy :)

Great top with spot on sizing. I’m a medium so stick true to size on this one. Washes great too with no danger of shrinking if you follow the instructions Particularly love the acid jazz vibe off this and think other colourways would be interesting…

Great fit and quality, I like it a lot.
The shipping was also super quick, the product arrived 2 days after ordering it.

Another great top from Mod shoes, perfect fit and nice soft material , as with other reviews it would be nice to have the pattern on the cuffs , but you can’t have everything.
Colin Brown (verified owner) –
Great quality and fit. As a Beatles fan this ticks all the boxes. Have had lots of comments on how good it looks on. Superb.

The usual excellent service from mod shoes. Needed to exchange size and was done swiftly with no hassle. The top itself is another great addition. As has been noted in another review, it would have been nice to have had the embroidery on the cuffs as well, to be an exact replica of John’s original, but that’s a minor quibble. Hoping the Lennon Get Back shirt is restocked too..!!
Thanks again, mod shoes !!

Love this top. Great fit, comfortable, and looks great. I received mine in Australia in less than a week. Great service. Would love to get hold of a John Lennon Get Back shirt. Thanks!

Fantastic reproduction of Lennon’s top from the Bermuda scenes in ‘Help’. The quality is great and a really comfortable fit and it looks fantastic.

Typical fantastic quality from my friends at Mod Shoes. Looking forward to rev2 with the matching cuffs. Will be a day one customer!

I love the style when mod began to dabble in psychedelia. This is a lovely fit. Would have liked the wrists to have had the pattern too like Mr. Lennon’s but it didn’t stop me buying two! Been searching for years for a top like this, looking forward to your next release.

Just received ‘the Help’ and as with everything I’ve bought from Modshoes the quality, the fit and the look are all superb. Love it. Keep them coming.
