London Life was an influential magazine that ran for a short spell in 1960s London — very much of its time, capturing that moment as it was happening. There’s a book put together by the brilliant Simon Wells, done with real care and affection for the era. Inside are thousands of images you’ll recognise, alongside interviews with people who shaped the scene — not just The Beatles, but also the places, the shops, the restaurants… the whole feel of London at that time.
This particular image was used on the cover in June 1966, and it just stopped me in my tracks. There’s something about it — the colour, the attitude, the styling — that feels completely timeless.
It felt like a natural fit for 66 Clothing. It’s exactly the sort of reference we’re drawn to — proper 60s, but still easy to wear now.
The fabric is a 180g organic cotton – soft, lightweight, and ideal for everyday wear. They wash well too (as long as you follow the care instructions below!).
Perfect for off-duty days, these tees are cut with a relaxed, casual fit – just right when you want something easy but still with style.
Fit note: These are a standard fit, slightly more generous than our Downing Tees. If you usually wear an XL in 66 Clothing, this might feel a touch roomier than a Gabicci or other 66 tops. Please consult the chart below :-)
