I have put this site together because there was nowhere on the net which centered on MOD Shoes. There were and still are plenty of shops online. There were a few sites with a little mention on footwear for Mods, but nothing about the shoes which meant that what was on offer was only about the shoe the company was selling. A couple of sites have some pictures and recollections, for example, ‘The Mod Generation’.
Also, I wanted to know what shoes were better together with peoples experiences of the different makers. These days we are pretty lucky that shoes are made a lot better and not just cash in. That said they don’t come cheap, and a lot of the better quality traditional shoes never did. As they say you pay for quality, and quality lasts longer than the price.
So I have split the Mod Shoes website into 4 areas: Classics; MOD Revival; Womens and Odds & Sods. Some you might not agree with like Bowling Shoes are in MOD revival. Why? Because I can’t see any pictures of 60′s MODS wearing them. The 60′s MODS do seem to have a better range of shoes. Where as MOD revival seems to have a clear uniform.
Where possible I have provided links to stockists. I am also looking for pictures. There are lots of pictures of MODS on the net, but the pictures don’t have a clear shot of the MOD shoes. So if you have some please send them in.
We hope that if this site becomes popular enough we will introduce videos of the various shoes available now, so that we can offer advice on the fit, etc.
